Synfo.com is pleased to be able bring images and news on Mayan Queen IV, the 94m superyacht currently enjoying her stay at Dart Harbour, Dartmouth, on the UK's South coast. According to Captain David White, the Harbour Master at Dart, she first berthed in in the harbour on Monday the 8th, in preparation for her maiden voyage following her recent launch by Blohm and Voss in Hamburg. Designed by Tim Heywood, Mayan Queen IV is commanded by Captain Richard Kirkby and has a crew complement of 30.
She is in the harbour to make final preparations for her voyage to first Tenerife, and then on to Barbados by taking on stores and spares. Dart Harbour has received glowing reviews from the vessel and her captain, not only for its facilities, but also the very important aspect of security that it offers. By mooring mid river, vessels and their occupants are afforded a very high level of privacy and security, but within 200 metres of a secure landing area. It would seem that for these luxury superyachts such issues are of growing importance and concern, with captains perhaps more and more on the look out for good, secure berths.
Of course not all harbours have the
ability to accommodate such large superyachts, with Harbour Master
White stating that Dart (pictured below) has the ability to offer
sheltered berths for yachts up to 180m in length, with maximum drafts
of 8.5m, such as the superyachts Eos and Adix which have previously called at the harbour.
