30 August 2007 - Galileo Launch
|
|
Marking their own 30th anniversary this year, Aegean Yachts celebrated recently with the launch of a new 50m superyacht, three-masted super schooner, GALILEO. Designed entirely in-house, Galileo provides more than 500m2 interior and 400m2 exterior space.
In keeping with the experienced Owner's vision, the yacht has recreated the classic 1930's elegance attributed to schooners of that era. The three masts accumulate a sail area of 1,100m2 ensuring fast passage at sail, whilst the twin 760HP MAN engines provide swift passage under calmer conditions.
The details of the living space make for a very comfortable and sumptuous vessel, decks consist of Burmese teak, throwing caution to the wind considering the more composite materials on offer nowadays, including al fresco dining on the aft deck with obligatory open-air jacuzzi to the fore. The fore-deck provides adequate room for the water toys whilst inside, one of the five cabins has been converted to a scuba storage area, complete with compressors, diving gear and hydraulic diving platform.
Moving further inside, there are two main suites each consisting of 60m2 living space, one aft, one in the bow, both full beam. The aft suite consists of a make-up table and living space with retractable plasma television immediately in front of the bed. A full marble en-suite and walk in wardrobe complete the aft stateroom.
Also in the bow are two main VIP rooms and one triple guest cabin.
The main socialising areas continue the classic contemporary thread using African Cherry (Makoré) wood throughout. Subtly divided into a large 12 person dining area and two separate sitting areas, a very open 80m2 area saloon, provides plenty of room to enjoy the 60" plasma television.
Galileo marks a milestone in Turkish boatbuilding, the fortieth and largest yacht from the Aegean Yacht yard. In total, 150 craftsmen and engineers were involved in the build.
