As an introduction to the partnership of the Monaco Yacht Show and Synfo.com for the second year running, I would like to introduce you to this year's line up of yachts. Some are outlined below, the full list is available on Synfo.com/MYS.
HJB Holland Jachtbouw (HJB) will be showcasing the 43m lightweight schooner Skylge at the Monaco show this year. Built in aluminium to a design by André Hoek, she has circumnavigated the globe since her launch in 2006.
On her journey Skylge has been able to take her owners to many remote places, enjoying access to shallow bays thanks to a lifting keel. At the same time, she has also raced with considerable distinction in the leading regattas, combining those traditional schooner aesthetics with modern-day performance.
Skylge - the Frisian word for the Dutch island of Terschelling - has slim low-freeboard lines, long overhangs and a modest pilothouse. MCA compliant, her layout has been optimised for chartering, with an owners’ stateroom, VIP suite, two guest cabins and lots of deck space.
HJB's recently rebuilt Life Saga is also discussed in the August issue of The Yacht Report.

Lürssen In 2008, Lürssen will be bringing their latest delivery, the superyacht Martha Ann, to the Monaco show. Delivered in April, Martha Ann is spending her first summer season in the Mediterranean, before debuting at the Monaco Yacht Show. The sister ship of Apoise (2006) and Saint Nicolas (2007) but unlike her predecessors she has a blue hull, giving her greater elegance and individuality.
The design focus was on her modern lines and a contemporary style for this 70m superyacht. Designed by Espen Oeino with a beam of 12.8m, she offers larger volumes that anticipated for a yacht of her length. Featuring six decks and numerous areas for guests, she provides more than ample entertaining area. Fully MCA compliant, the team behind her hope she will become a star on the charter circuit.
Guests have four very spacious cabins with king size beds at their disposal on the lower deck while the main deck hosts the enormous owners suite, comprising an area well in excess of 130sqm. The main salon with dining area is also on the main deck whilst an impressive round glass elevator dominates the lobby.
The bridge deck has an additional VIP cabin on the starboard side, and further aft there is a full beam salon and interior/exterior dining area. A huge “sports” bar-cum-gym and obligatory (very large) Jacuzzi are found on her upper deck.
The main and upper decks also provide vast outdoor sunbathing and seating areas with a large pool with integrated bar positioned to ensure creature comforts are on tap for all her guests.
