Francesco Paszkowski Design are working on the interior design for the second semi-displacement yacht in the series, the superyacht SD 122 from Sanlorenzo. Paszkowski Design are responsible for the general yacht concept, external and internal layout. They have also paid close attention to the use of fibreglass within the yacht, and how best to combine contemporary modern design with the elegance and luxury of more traditional interiors. The yacht's exterior recalls the pastel tones of 1950s and 60s luxury sailboats, with shade of cream colouring. This choice adds contrast to the mahogany of the handrail and teak decking.
Trapezodial and rectangular windows are used within the owner's suite and general living area. On the upper deck the windows are more rounded, such as in the Captain's cabin (which is located next to the bridge as befits a long-range cruising vessel). The exterior design of the superyacht includes a large flybridge, whirlpool tub and space for entertaining. Inside the yacht the theme is 'sober elegance', with the use of natural light an important design element. Contrast is achieve with the use of rich, luxury, timbers and wooden flooring, interrupted by white carpeting. Elements such as the staircases also help form the 'design identity' of the yacht as created by Francesco Paszkowski Design, and decorative aspects in their own right.
Paszkowski Design claim that a particularly innovative aspect of the yacht is the layout of the upper deck, with a a view from the helm station through the sky lounge to the sea due to the central axis created from bows to stern. The layout on the main deck is traditional, with the living area and owner’s suite, which has a studio and separate bathrooms for him and her, and the VIP and guests’ cabins on the lower deck. Launching of the yacht is currently scheduled for the summer of 2009.
