New images of Feadship's C-Stream

When the first renderings of Feadship's 73metre C-stream arrived in TYR office back in 2008 the Editorial team gave it a big thumbs up, with features such as the shoot slide appealing to the inner child in us all. Now we are able to bring you further images of this playful design as well as additional information behind its conception.

The third of the 'Streams' design series C-stream, following the X-Stream and F-stream, comes from the designers from Studio de Voogt, the dedicated design team within De Voogt Naval Architects. Chris van Hooren, Design Manager, told The Yacht Report that a lot of the designers on the team became fathers in 2008 and this influenced the concept of C-Stream, with the design catering for the young and the young-at-heart. The design is also aimed at owners who enjoy a more informal approach to yachting. With the three prominent features - the Dock, the flexible WaveDeck and the above mentioned Shoot slide it is hard not to find this innovative design appealing.

The C-stream design is centred around use of the yachts outdoor space, with the outside aft deck featuring a dock and a number of pieces of 'pop-up' furniture elements. Also present on the aft deck is the Float (pictured above at sea and below), which is a multifunctional unit that, when in the water, acts as a floating recreational island, leaving the dock open for use as a paddling pool for younger children. When docked, the Float complements the design of the multifunctional WaveDeck.

The WaveDeck is able to transform for several different uses - with two examples being its use as a beach platform for watersports and also as a party space for receptions, dining or parties, for which the Float is able to transform into a bar or small stage.

The final major feature of C-stream, the Shoot water slide descends from the sun deck to reach a destination of either a half-submerged Jacuzzi, which gives an underwater sea view, or alternatively plunging straight into the sea. This feature in particular serves as an example of the fresh new thinking being injected into superyacht designs both at Feadship and worldwide, and makes the design very appealing from both an owners and a charterers point of view.
