26 July 2010 - Sea of Marmara marina taking shape
|
|
Poralu Marine is in the throes of developing a marina project to the west of Istanbul, on the sea of Marmara.
The
development, Istanbul E-Marina, is the marina systems engineer
company's second marina project in Turkey and is part of a larger
residential development. The port infrastructure will eventually have
765 moorings intended for residential use with 10 larger berths
designed specifically for superyachts.
Poralu Marine began its
installation of the project in mid-May with the delivery and
installation of the 609 moorings which comprise phase one of the
development. The remaining 156 moorings are due to be delivered in a
second phase of construction. The system has a run of 1584 metres of
pontoons, which will incorporate 11 bridges and Poralu Marine hopes to
see the first vessels moored in Istanbul E-Marina from the start of the
2011 season.
The marina occupies a strategic position on the
Sea of Marmara, sitting between Europe and Asia, bordered to the north
and south by Turkey and with links to the Black and Aegean seas.
Poralu
Marine feels this second Turkish contract has given the company the
opportunity to grow in what it sees as a fast-expanding market. Known
for its innovative use of aluminium in the construction of pontoons,
Poralu Marine has expanded its services to offer bridges, catwalks and
landing stages as well as diving rafts, leisure pontoons and private
jetties.
The company recently achieved ISO 9001-2008 certification for its quality management system; a certification which attests to a company's ability to ensure customer satisfaction as well as display continuous improvement in its processes. Poralu Marine cites its application of sound practices as the reason behind its increased efficiency and competitiveness in the market.
"Gaining ISO 9001 certification is the culmination of a project to which everybody in the company has contributed," says Laurent Gasiglia, Poralu Marine general manager.
"We provide our customers with an effective response which also encapsulates an approach that always respects a sustainable approach towards the environment. This certification is an integral part of Poralu Marine's efforts to promote sustainable development in its business. In addition, this drive to strive for excellence encourages all our employees to focus on the group's values which are commitment and involvement every day."
