The first of two ambitious superyacht orders placed with Dunya Yachts in 2009 is making good progress. Motor yacht Red Square is due for launch in early 2011 and upon completion, at 72m, she will be the largest superyacht ever constructed in Turkey. The steel hull and the aluminium superstructure are finished and a large part of the technical and mechanical systems have been installed. The distinctive exterior lines are the work of designer Diana Scott of Sterling Scott, with her interior design undertaken by Alberto Pinto. Red Square will soon be ready for the interior team to realise Alberto Pinto’s grand vision.
Pinto worked in conjunction with a few elite designers to create a ‘luxury beach house’ concept for the yacht. This concept relies upon simple blocks of colour, with variety created through different textures in the materials. Bleached oak with a variety of rustic finishes will have a strong presence throughout the yacht, alongside sand blasted glass and dyed wood.
The deck echoes the interior theme, with simple, comfortable pieces of teak furniture supported by traditional maritime colouring such as blue, red or white. The wheelhouse has a sporty feel, with red leather tub seats and a varnished rose wood control panel.
Red Square’s luxury features include a health and beauty spa, a sea level gym and a glazed gallery in the main saloon connecting the main and upper deck lounges. The yacht accommodates 12 guests across the owner’s upper deck suit, one full beam VIP suit, two double and two twin cabins.
Red Square is 12.2 m at her beam and draws 3.75m; she is equipped with 2 x 3.15hp Caterpillar 31516 C DITA engines that give her a maximum speed of 17kn and a comfortable cruising speed of 14kn.
