Southern Wind has revealed the designs for their latest sailing yacht, the SW 102. Building on the experience gained in earlier models in the series like the SW 100 and the SW 110, Southern Wind have increased sailing performance through innovations in the exterior design whilst utilising the successful layout that was developed for the SW 100. 

The hull has been updated in partnership with Nauta Design and Farr Yacht Design, achieving a gain in waterline length of 1.35m.  This increase in length is advantageous for speed when sailing, and the aft of the hull has been flattened slightly to increase stability, particularly in reaching conditions.  The increased volume created by the lengthened water line, coupled with an increase of 21cm to the beam has been distributed to different areas of the interior where they were most needed. This includes the sail locker, lazzarette and engine room, making these areas more practical for storage purposes and simplifying the operational layout for the crew.
