Since initial sea trials in the Solent (with HRH Prince Michael of Kent present) the prototype XSR48 – no boundaries – has been fine-tuned ready for a series of world record attempts to be conducted this year to prove the capabilities of the boat in extreme conditions. Directors of XSMG Marine Ian Sanderson and Peter Dredge are both world powerboat champions and multi-world record holders.

The 48ft XSR48 is a truly technologically-advanced boat with a stiff Kevlar/carbon-fibre monocoque hull, race boat handling and twin diesel Isotta Fraschini engines each giving a minimum of 800bhp and top speeds in excess of 90mph. The race-tuned engine option takes this to 100mph – a true supercar on water!

The partners involved in its development read like a who’s who of yacht industry leaders: Redman Whiteley Dixon superyacht designers, Fabio Buzzi hull design, High Modulus structural engineering, Green Marine composite hull fabrication, Berthon Shipyard assembly and Isotta Fraschini performance engines.
