Livewire Connections introduce their new Access Controller FB-10, which is an interactive router specifically designed for use in the superyacht market. Its core function is to allow users to easily switch between communication devices, whilst also maintaining visibility and control of all off vessel data connections. This is a very important ability, firstly as it is cost effective and allows a user to choose the most effective service when you need it, without time consuming reconfiguration. It allows easier action in unforeseen circumstances, such as the blocking of your VSAT, with minimal downtime. Livewire say that the Access Controller FB-10 makes it possible to use a variety of systems such as GSM, in port Wi-Fi or Inmarsat’s latest Fleet Broadband system as well as keeping an eye on costs via the inbuilt billing utility.
Livewire Connections also say that they recognise that not every yacht has an ETO onboard. The advantage of this system is that the remote support gives Port Forwarding for network access to servers etc and WAN to Wan, which
enables a shore-side technician to access the VSAT modem via a Fleet
F77 to re-point your Seatel VSAT Antenna using the Inbuilt support for
Seatel’s DAC RemP software (all from a remote location). In terms of security and protection a user can change their firewall as they see fit, and control who has access, can use the web for browsing
when on VSAT or limit your comms to email only when using Fleet F77
ISDN.
The system has a purposefully simple user interface, that allows you to control up to 10 different data services from Satellite to Terrestrial including Inmarsat’s latest Fleet Broadband, Fleet F77, VSAT GSM and Wi-Fi systems. All of which can be selected through the simple click of a button. The user interface can be loaded onto as many network PCs as required around the vessel and will automatically update to reflect the current connection status and data usage giving you full control.
