I am now in Zurich and on am Google Earth to check if I have circumnavigated yet or if it happens when I get to Palma for Superyacht Cup. The answer is still 1 degree and 33’ to go. In Abu Dhabi it was 45 degrees; here in Zurich a chilly 15 and in the lounge so hot that I suspect the heating is on... |

| Do Buy |

Those two punning words pretty much summed up (when "and build" was added) the overheated state of the Dubai Economy prior to October last year. I arrived here on Sunday to see what the situation is at present... |

Or to be accurate back from seeing it and I am now writing this in Hong Kong. I just spent a few days in Guangdong PRC visiting some old acquaintance yards making some new ones and finding one totally unexpected one. |

| Back to work & Taiwan in a day |

Leaving the island of a 1000 temples (more like a million I’d guess) and relaxation behind, I jumped on a Singapore Airlines flight to - eventually - Hong Kong where after few hours I arrived for a ultra brief visit to Taiwan... |

...I leave Bali
The proximity to Singapore and its logical part of the tour sequence made the Island of Gods a logical and necessary break from the hotel to hotel, yard to yard, blog to blog existence of the last weeks.
I came here via Singapore... |

| Cup Town WA |
|

It's pronounced Freemantle even called Freo but spelt out it has only one “e”; a town that came to yacht prominence in the 1987 Americas Cup Defence and has remained a strongly maritime city and according to Nick Stark of Hanseatic, more fun ever since... |

Having seen all the relevant folks in the superyacht industry in Cairns I was passed on Wednesday into the tender care of the TTNQ or Tourism Tropical North Queensland. They arranged an effective and compelling demonstration of what the area has to offer not only tourists but visiting (and refitting) crew and owners... |

| Rainmaker |
|
|
I am contemplating a change of career from Editor to rainmaker. In Antibes the wettest winter on record – then rain in Seattle, pop across the equator to an opposite season – rain!! Wet and overcast in Sydney, record breaking flooding in Brisbane. We flew North above thick cloud and finally into Cairns we popped out but it followed us in and ever since - rain! |

| Sun breaks out at the Cove (then runs away!) |
|
|
Despite the rain drenched cancellation of the first day the sun popped out and so did a pretty fair turn out at The Sanctuary Cove boatshow on Queensland’s Gold Coast. It’s not a superyacht show, despite having a superyacht tent, it’s a small boat show and so given the current climate one might be forgiven for expecting tumbleweed and bleached skulls rather than hordes of visitors ready to buy... |

| On the Cold (and wet) Coast |
|

The Sanctuary Cove Show began today on Brisbane’s Gold Coast – not! Bad weather stopped play in a big and very wet way. Oh how it rained! In Brisbane in the bosky western ‘burbs some 187mm to 257mm in 24 hours... |

Yesterday was my first day in Sydney itself, with a whirlwind tour of what the area offers superyachts by Richard Morris. Richard is a Director of Superyacht Base Australia and Executive Director of Superyacht Sydney... |

Its not so much the jetlag that screws you up, so much as communicating across time zones – in fact an amazing homeopathic pill called jet zone actually seems to have eliminated any jetlag for me between Seattle and Sydney... |

West to East jetlag is like being a student again; you can party all night but can’t wake up in the morning. Going the other way such as from Nice to Seattle is like being old, you fall asleep early, sleep shortly and badly and wake at 0400... |

| TYR World Tour |

| I am about to – or in fact just have (I am writing this on a plane to Sydney) – left on a world tour to visit yards, facilities and interview industry players. When the times get tough TYR goes on tour to take the temperature of the industry worldwide...
